One of the clearest love it/ hate it issues we have with
san diego is folks response to the local "weather". I don't want to complain too much because we definitely have acclimated to being able to enjoy being outside most days and my own personal comfort gauge is exactly 71 degrees (just a degree warmer or cooler and i am complaining about being uncomfortable,
joe takes great joy in razzing me in this intolerance of mine) the big news the past day has been this "storm" coming in - lots of rain and, oh no watch out, even maybe some thunder and lightening!
joe and and i never thought we would live in a more weather-fearful place than
winston-
salem, but
san diego easily has it beat. I told a friend we had to run some errands and in all seriousness asked me to be careful driving in these conditions. (it had barely started raining!) i guess when you live in a place with "perfect" weather anything other than endless sunshine is to be feared.
So, as we waited for the big storm to arrive we headed to the zoo to make the most of the last of the sunshine for a few days...

...and what is better on a rainy day than cookies?

...or a bit of mischief trying to stand and walk in the tunnel?

...and finally....drum roll please... we have the rain! check out the new umbrellas - since it only rained three times in 2007 our old umbrella was used more as a sword for indoor battles and can no longer open up.

unfortunately, less than an hour later the rain has stopped.
