Maui 2008
Makena was very upset at being left on the beach while Joe and Gabe played in the waves. She was in this position longer than anyone else would have considered remotely comfortable (fortunately she wasn't screaming).
A much happier Makena on the next day as we visited her namesake beach - Makena Beach a.k.a. "Big Beach" here in Maui. The waters are beautiful, but you shouldn't be fooled by their beauty as they can also be fierce and powerful - sound like anyone we know?
We found the "sinking ship" in Lahaina while enjoying a pizza dinner and some shopping (I'd show a pic of my new toe ring, but it'll have to wait till a fresh pedi - current chipped blue nail polish takes away from the coolness of the ring)
Gabe had a blast at his first snorkeling adventure. Joe has worked with him in the pool all summer to get him comfortable using a snorkel and mask and it totally paid off. Gabe LOVED looking at the reef and all of the fish while laying on a boogie board with Joe balancing/directing it.
Halfway through our Maui adventure. We hiked around Iao Needle State Park and marveled at the beauty of the ridges and ecosystem in this valley.
