bad parenting

There are some moments each week that make us feel good about ourselves and what a great job we are doing as parents... and then there are many more moments that cause us to question our eligibility as parents. Two simple examples from just the past few days:
Joe asking Anne "is gabe with you?". Anne feels the tingles in her gut because gabe is not with her, and Joe must not know where he is either or else he wouldn't be asking the question. So, in unison we start shouting, "gabe, say here I am" (we discovered that if we say "where are you, gabe thinks it's a hiding game and won't answer). Definitely no answers from the house...so we shout to the back yard...still no answers...which leaves the front yard - now the stomach is starting to churn. But our fears that he escaped into the driveway and the street are quickly assuaged when we hear from the branches from our orange tree in the front yard "here I am!". He had very proudly climbed about 5' up into the tree. When will we learn?
And then just this afternoon dear sweet makena got tired from waiting on us to put her down for a nap, that she just took care of it all by herself. ahhh, parenting.

Crackin' me up! I love it! Tell Gabe not to worry- I like to sleep in my goggles, too.
I can't believe how old Gabe looks. He is such a little boy.
Oh how I miss you guys!
