We started our Easter weekend celebrations with a Garden Party in the church courtyard. Mak and friend Reese had fun finding the hidden eggs and then putting them back again.
Both of us think the idea of the Easter bunny is a bit silly (seriously, a fake rabbit more closely related to fertility rituals than anything resurrection, we like to think of ourselves as not too uptight about these things, but just couldn't bring ourselves to do it) but we still decided to give the kids Easter baskets, they just knew it was from mom and dad and not a giant bunny.
ain't they cute? Gabe's outfit is actually a Sears special circa 1978 (it is the same suit Joe wore when he was 3 yrs old). Mak's dress is a Mimi special and a bit more current.
Had to get a picture of all three (!) kids in the Easter photos. Almost to the last trimester!
We had a wonderful Easter dinner with Joe's family at our house and then loved having some friends over for dessert and one last egg hunt in our front yard. I decided to spare ya'll anymore photos, but had to put one in of my glorious dessert. As a grand finale to the dinner delectibles I attempted yet another bunny cake. My mom thought it was a good idea a few years ago to buy a cake mold of a bunny and ever since then I have felt that it is an annual tradition (or duty) to make the bunny cake. This was by far the tastiest one, but as you can tell from the picture it was also a little grim and disturbing. Right as the dessert guests were arriving Gabe announced that the bunny head had fallen on the floor. And, sure enough, my cute Easter bunny was now a decapitated rabbit more appropriate for Halloween rather than Easter. It didn't stop us from eating every delicious bite!
